Mayfran’s shuttle conveyor systems are designed to automatically load open-top trailers up to 50 ft long and 13’-6” high. Electronic sensors measure scrap depth and automatically index the shuttle conveyor to provide an even load. Weigh scales ensure that full trailers will not exceed the legal road allowance, and allow both the plant and the hauler to record net shipping weights. These systems are designed to service high volume stamping plants and can be engineered as single or dual trailer systems.
Single Conveyor / Single Trailer Shuttle System
With a single trailer system, material is accumulated on the shuttle conveyor to allow scrap production to continue while the trailer is being changed. Gates close at each end of the shuttle to prevent scrap from falling on the floor below. This system is an excellent option when space for two trailers is not available and the plant has a shunt truck available on site to replace the trailer within one hour after filling.
Single Conveyor / Dual Trailer Shuttle System
These systems are designed to service two open-top trailers and utilize a single shuttle conveyor with a two-directional chute mounted to each end. When one trailer is full, the system automatically switches over to the other, allowing production to continue without interruption. This is a good option when it may be a few hours before a full trailer can be replaced.
Dual Conveyor / Dual Trailer Shuttle System
With one shuttle conveyor located above each trailer, the dual conveyor / dual trailer system is the most versatile and provides the cleanest filling pattern. It is particularly suited to stamping plants where scrap characteristics often vary due to changes in die sets and material thickness. It also provides a level of redundancy within the system, allowing one shuttle to be shut down for maintenance without having to stop production.
